Psyllium comes from the seeds of plantain. Highly mucilagionous, the seeds and seed hulls are used as a bulk laxative to absorb toxins in the colon. Psyllium seeds are milder acting than the hulls, which are mostly mucilage. The seeds are used for irritated intestinal membranes.
